Love-themed film festival Tartuff opens in Tartu — all screenings free
The Tartuff love film festival opened in Tartu on August 8, offering free admission to all screenings.
The love-themed film festival Tartuff began in Tartu on the evening of August 8, organized by the non-profit "Dark Nights Film Festival" (PÖFF).
The festival opened at Estonia's largest open-air cinema, with a 22:00 screening on Town Hall Square of the Thai film "My Stray Dog," which follows the life of a dog found on the street from puppyhood to old age.
The festival will close on August 15 with a screening of the musical "Moulin Rouge," which marks its 25th anniversary this year.
Program and venue
On the 128-meter screen of the summer cinema, audiences will be shown a total of 13 feature films and one short-film collection, all exploring different aspects of love. The program includes films from four continents.
Besides the open-air screenings, documentary and youth films will also be shown at the Elektriteater cinema in Tartu.
All festival screenings are free for viewers. The festival program is available on the organizers' website. For the duration of the festival, 1,000 chairs will be set up on Town Hall Square.
