Theatre stages new puppet version of "Sprīdītis" with Ukrainian puppet artist
The "Society of Free Actors" theatre has staged a new puppet performance of "Sprīdītis", based on the fairy-tale play by Latvian writer Anna Brigadere, created together with Ukrainian puppet artist Olga Gonobolina. The theatre "Society of Free Actors" has turned to Latvian classic literature, staging a new puppet performance called "Sprīdītis", based on the fairy-tale play of the same name by Latvian writer Anna Brigadere. The story follows a boy who sets out in search of the Land of Happiness.
Collaboration with a Ukrainian artist
The production was created by director Yuri Lunyk together with Ukrainian puppet artist Olga Gonobolina. This collaboration allows the Latvian folk tale to be viewed through symbols shared by both Ukrainian and Latvian culture.
