TechCrunch calls for volunteer sign-ups for Disrupt 2026 as deadline nears

TechCrunch is encouraging prospective volunteers to apply for its upcoming Disrupt 2026 conference, set to take place October 13–15 in San Francisco. The application deadline is Tuesday, September 22, and organizers say spots are filling quickly.

Unlike standard event tickets, which remain available for purchase at any time, volunteer positions will not reopen once filled — the next opportunity would come only with next year's event.

What volunteers receive

Volunteers get a free three-day pass to the conference. Beyond admission, the role offers a behind-the-scenes look at how a major industry event is run, direct interaction with founders, operators and investors, and insight into how the startup ecosystem functions day to day. Volunteers are also positioned to witness announcements and industry developments as they happen on site.

Requirements to apply

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers are expected to commit at least 12 hours of work before or during the conference and must attend an in-person orientation session on the afternoon of Monday, October 12. Being based in the San Francisco area is preferred but not required.

Organizers note that many attendees pay thousands of dollars for a ticket yet still don't get the same direct access that volunteers receive. TechCrunch is encouraging anyone considering the role to apply promptly, since after the deadline passes or spots fill up, the next chance to volunteer will not come until the following year's conference.
