A multi-day funeral ceremony for Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has commenced in Tehran. Khamenei, who led Iran for 37 years, was killed on the first day of the US-Israel war against the country.
After a private farewell attended by Iranian officials and foreign delegations, the coffins of Khamenei and four family members were placed on public display until July 6. Hundreds of thousands of people have come to pay their respects. According to the Associated Press, mourners beat their chests in grief before the glass display case and called for revenge against Israel and the United States.
Since yesterday, religious chants have been heard on the streets of Tehran, and portraits of the late supreme leader are displayed. Security forces are guarding the ceremony area, and nearby roads are closed.
On Saturday, February 28, the US and Israel launched a military campaign to destroy the terrorist regime in Iran. The US military struck nearly 900 targets within the first 12 hours. Late on February 28, US President Donald Trump announced that Supreme Leader Khamenei was dead. Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev traveled to Iran for the farewell ceremony.
