Serbia: First-time champion Spartak shocks favorites
In Serbia, Spartak Subotica became the first team from outside Belgrade to win the national league since its reorganization, defeating FMP 76-73 in the final. Spartak's path to the title included a semifinal upset over Red Star Belgrade (Crvena zvezda), which had won nine of the last ten championships. FMP, meanwhile, stunned Partizan Belgrade 92-79 in the other semifinal. Partizan had been a finalist in the Adriatic League earlier this season. Spartak's victory marks the club's first Serbian league title.
