Tele2 blocks record number of digital threats in June
Tele2 Latvia prevented a record number of cyber threats in June, mainly phishing and fake online stores. In the first half of the year, the operator blocked approximately 180 million threats – three times more than in the same period last year.

Aleksandrs Bogdanovs, head of Tele2's security department, reported that scammers were particularly active in June, using fraudulent websites offering large discounts. They targeted seasonal products such as garden furniture, children's swimming aids, and other summer goods.
Fraudsters also exploited people's desire to improve health and well-being. Fake sites advertised red light therapy masks, low-level laser therapy devices, specialized hair growth serums, and dietary supplements. After making a payment, customers never received the products, and their personal data was stolen for further scams.
In total, Tele2 mitigated about 180 million threats in the first six months of this year, three times more than in the same period last year. This indicates a sharp increase in digital risks in Latvia.
