Telegram founder Pavel Durov has announced the rollout of a cryptocurrency wallet feature called Gram Wallet inside the messaging app's ecosystem. The tool is currently accessible only to a limited group of users.
Durov said access would be expanded gradually to all Telegram users over the coming two weeks. He first mentioned plans for the wallet back in mid-July.
No verification required
According to Durov, Gram Wallet is non-custodial, meaning users are not required to undergo identity verification and no intermediary holds their funds on their behalf. This setup allows users to retain direct control over their crypto assets without relying on a third party or centralized custodian.
Further technical details about which cryptocurrencies or functions Gram Wallet will support once fully launched have not yet been disclosed.
