Latvia has only nine towns whose names contain the letter "c". This fact forms the basis of a newly published online quiz aimed at testing people's knowledge of the country's populated places.
Participants in the quiz are presented with 18 different Latvian locations, exactly half of which — nine — hold official town status, while the other nine are villages. The task in each case is simple in form but not always easy in practice: players must decide whether a given place is a town or a village.
A geography challenge
The quiz plays on the fact that many Latvian place names containing the letter "c" can sound alike or otherwise cause confusion about their administrative status.
