CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski announced in a new video that the studio is aiming to release The Witcher 4, the next mainline entry in the series, sometime in 2028. The game has been in development for years and the studio has previously shared footage of it, but this marks the first time a specific release window has been given.

Before the fourth mainline title arrives, fans can expect other new content from the Witcher universe. At this week's Gamescom event, CD Projekt Red will showcase its upcoming Witcher 3 expansion, Songs of the Past, which is planned for release in 2027. The expansion is also set to feature in Gamescom's Opening Night Live event, hosted by Geoff Keighley, starting at 2PM ET on Tuesday.

Another project has seen staff cuts

CD Projekt Red is separately developing a multiplayer spinoff set in the Witcher universe, codenamed Project Siris. Earlier in August, the company confirmed it had laid off staff working on that project.
