Meta's social media platform Threads is adding new features for parents and guardians to oversee their teenagers' behavior on the app. Rolling out next week, the Parental Supervision tools provide insights into how much time a teen spends on Threads, as well as controls for setting time limits and sleep mode hours.

Guardians can also place restrictions on which tags a teen can view and enforce other limits related to privacy and content settings. These features are designed to complement the built-in restrictions already in place for all teen accounts on Threads.

Adults will be able to access the Parental Supervision for Threads through Meta's Family Center hub when the rollout begins next week. Meta has long been working on ways to ensure children can use its products safely, even before the company was renamed from Facebook. Recent efforts include sharing the topics teens discuss with Meta AI with their guardians and limiting repeated exposure to potentially harmful content on Instagram.
