Texts reveal 14-year-old allegedly murdered by singer D4vd had pregnancy and abortion
Court hearings in the US have revealed text messages showing that Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the 14-year-old girl singer D4vd is accused of murdering, was pregnant and had an abortion before her death. The defendant has pleaded not guilty.
During a court hearing in Los Angeles last Friday, prosecutors presented evidence against singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, who is charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The messages shown in court revealed that the teenager had been pregnant and had undergone an abortion before her death.
According to prosecutors, in June 2024, Celeste texted Burke: "What [if] the first abortion didn't work?" At that time, she was 13 years old, and he was 19. Prosecutors allege that Burke killed the teen after she threatened to expose his sexual abuse of a minor, potentially destroying his career. Burke has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and sexual abuse.
The court also heard an exchange from January 2024, where Burke apologized to the teen for "putting her through this." She responded, "neither of us are capable of watching and taking care of the baby. it's for the best no?" Burke asked if the baby was his, and Celeste confirmed it was, according to a detective's testimony.
Prosecutors presented iCloud data recovered from Burke's iPhone, showing texts dating back to August 8, 2022, when Celeste was 11 and Burke was 17. Los Angeles Police Detective Corey Farell said the phone also contained explicit photos of the teenager taken during the alleged abuse.
The victim's mother, Mercedes Rivas Hernandez, became visibly emotional and left the courtroom with her husband as details of some photos were read aloud.
D4vd rose to fame on TikTok with viral hits "Romantic Homicide" and "Here With Me." Celeste's body was found in the front trunk of his Tesla in September 2025, the day after what would have been her 15th birthday. Following the discovery, Burke canceled his worldwide tour and largely retreated from public life and social media. He was arrested in April 2025.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman filed seven criminal charges, including murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and mutilation of remains. The teen was reported missing after last being seen at Burke's Hollywood Hills home on April 3, 2025—five months before her remains were found. Prosecutors say Burke met Celeste online when she was 11 and began sexually abusing her when she was 13 and he was 18.
