Man posing as healer to face trial for sexually abusing a child and producing child pornography

Prosecutors have filed charges against a man who, without being listed in the Register of Medical Persons and Medical Support Persons, posed as a healer and provided so-called healing services at his home from February 2024 to May 2025.

According to prosecutors, the man took advantage of the fact that children, due to their age, cannot fully understand the significance of actions performed on them. During a massage session, he sexually abused a 12-year-old, satisfying his sexual urges through physical contact with the victim's body. He also used the child to produce pornographic material.

Large volume of illegal material found

During the investigation, a large amount of pornographic content was found on data storage devices seized from the accused, including child pornography and material depicting bestiality. He has also been charged over possession of this material. In total, the indictment comprises 28 criminal offences.

Prosecutors state that through his actions, the accused violated the child's sexual inviolability and morals, disrupted her normal physical, mental and sexual development, and caused psychological suffering with long-lasting consequences.

Public urged to report suspicions

Prosecutors are calling on anyone with even the slightest suspicion that a child may have suffered any form of abuse to immediately contact the State Police. They note that sexual violence includes any sexual act carried out against a person's will, regardless of the victim's age or gender, and that such abuse is frequently committed by people close to or well known to the victim.

Prosecutors also remind the public that under Latvian law, no person is considered guilty until their guilt has been established in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Law.
