The Ombudsman's Office of Latvia, an independent institution that monitors respect for human rights and good governance principles, has opened a case concerning the competition for head of the Podnieki kindergarten in Ādaži municipality. The office itself announced this.
The case examines whether there may have been discrimination on the grounds of political beliefs and political affiliation in the competition. The office is also checking whether the principle of good governance was violated. That principle requires state and municipal bodies to act openly, fairly and lawfully.
The office's announcement, as available, does not say who filed a complaint, what the outcome of the competition was, or when a decision might be made. The case has been opened and its assessment is continuing.
