Torņakalns library opens book shelf dedicated to painter Vilhelms Purvītis
Torņakalns library has opened a special book shelf dedicated to the work of landscape painter Vilhelms Purvītis. It allows visitors to explore the artist through books, research and discussions.

A new thematic book shelf dedicated to one of Latvia's most outstanding landscape painters, Vilhelms Purvītis, has been ceremonially opened at the Torņakalns library.
The creators of the idea describe the shelf as a kind of "oasis of knowledge," where anyone interested can gain a deeper understanding of Purvītis's personality and artistic work. The collection brings together books, research materials and other resources that offer insight into the artist's life and work from various perspectives.
The new shelf is intended as a place where library visitors can not only read about Purvītis but also engage in discussions about his legacy and significance in the history of Latvian art.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to promote Latvian cultural heritage within libraries, offering visitors thematically organized resources on important cultural figures.
