The Toronto Marlies are on the verge of winning the Calder Cup after a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Wolves in the third game of the AHL finals, played in Toronto.

The only goal of the night came early in the second period from 21-year-old Canadian forward Easton Cowan, who also played 66 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, recording 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists).

The Marlies have won the Calder Cup once before, in 2018. The Wolves, on the other hand, boast three AHL championships, the most recent in 2022.

Game 4 is scheduled for Thursday night in Toronto, where the Marlies can clinch the series with a 4-0 sweep.

Last season, the Abbotsford Canucks won the Calder Cup, with Latvian goaltender Artūrs Šilovs named playoff MVP.
