Toyota Hilux Diesel Pickup in Invincible Trim Tested by TV Autoziņas
The Latvian programme TV Autoziņas has tested the new diesel Toyota Hilux pickup in its top Invincible trim, priced at around 56,000 euros. The cabin has been updated, while load capacity and towing limits remain unchanged.

The car reviewed is the new model in its top Invincible trim, which costs about 56,000 euros, well above the base price. The test is relevant for buyers who want a pickup for both work and everyday driving.
Unchanged specifications
The pickup's gross weight is 3,250 kg and its payload is 1,075 kg, meaning more than a tonne. Officially, the Hilux may tow a trailer of up to 3.5 tonnes. The tailgate has lifting assist mechanisms so that the lid does not drop down.
A new cabin
The cabin of the new model has been genuinely updated, and the steering wheel resembles the one in the Land Cruiser. There is no extra space in the rear. The interior has many compartments and pockets, intended to make the working environment as comfortable as in modern tractors. There are far fewer functions and connections than in a tractor worth 100,000, but the key controls are placed in the centre on a sloping panel. Drivetrain-related switches sit near the gear lever, and the drive mode dial is in the middle of them.
Driving capabilities
The pickup has leaf springs at the rear and is not especially dynamic, yet it still offers a sport mode. It also has a device for slippery slopes and a rear differential lock. The lock is not needed to tackle serious sand dunes; the low-range gears are enough.
New feature: Terrain Monitor
The name Invincible means "unconquerable". Only this trim has the Terrain Monitor system: surround-view cameras show on the screen the area around the vehicle and also underneath it. Earlier Hilux models did not have this feature.
