On Saturday, a tragic accident occurred at the 'Nemuno žiedas' racetrack in Lithuania, where a race car veered off the track and crashed into a spectator area, killing one person and seriously injuring another. The victims were a father and his son from Kėdainiai.

On Saturday, July 4, a severe crash took place at the Nemuno žiedas track in Kačerginė, Lithuania, during the Baltic Road Racing Championship (BaTCC) round. The accident happened around 11:50 AM when GT division driver Aivars Remeikas, behind the wheel of a Cupra, lost control in the braking zone on a wet track and skidded into the spectator area.
The car struck a crowd gathered behind metal gates. According to eyewitnesses, the metal gates themselves fatally injured one spectator and severely wounded another. Lithuanian media reported that the victims were a father and son from Kėdainiai. The father died at the scene, while the son was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.
Two ambulance crews and police responded to the scene. Journalist Žilvinas Pekarsky reported that both medics and NATO soldiers provided first aid to the critically injured man, with CPR performed for about half an hour. Race organizers immediately canceled the event. The driver was unharmed.
Lithuanian police have launched a pre-trial investigation for manslaughter due to negligence to determine all circumstances of the incident.
