Tragic accident in Estonia: car with Latvian plates involved, one dead

A three-vehicle crash in Valga County, Estonia, involving a car with Latvian registration, left a 50-year-old man dead and three others injured.

A serious traffic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Supa village, Valga County, Estonia, involving three vehicles, including a car with Latvian license plates. A 50-year-old man died, and three other people were injured and taken to hospital.

According to Estonian outlet "Postimees", the emergency call was received at 2:06 PM. Preliminary information indicates that the 50-year-old driver of a Volvo collided with the rear of a truck. The Volvo was then thrown into the oncoming lane, where it collided head-on with a Volkswagen passenger car. The truck driver was unharmed. However, three of the four occupants in the Volkswagen required medical attention and were hospitalized.

Police stated that both the truck and Volkswagen drivers were sober and held valid driving licenses. All involved had been wearing seatbelts. Emergency services worked at the scene for several hours, disrupting traffic. The exact cause and circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
