Fatal Accident near Ķekava: Expert Highlights Missing Seatbelt
A collision between two cars near Ķekava left one driver dead. A traffic safety expert noted that the deceased driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

On Tuesday around 11:40 a.m., a collision occurred between a Toyota and a Volkswagen on the Rīgas HES–Pulkarne road in Ķekava municipality. According to initial information from the State Police, one driver died in the accident, while the other driver refused hospitalization. Police are investigating the circumstances.
Traffic safety expert Oskars Irbītis arrived at the scene. After examining the vehicles, he stated that although the cause of the crash might have been the Volkswagen driver’s health condition, he had committed a critical violation by not wearing a seatbelt. The expert emphasized that using a seatbelt would have increased the chances of survival.
