Tragic Bungee Jump in Brazil: 21-Year-Old Woman Dies, Three Men Arrested
A young woman died in Brazil after being thrown off a bridge without a properly attached safety rope during a bungee jump. Three men have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Fatal Incident at Skeleton Bridge
A tragedy occurred in the interior of São Paulo state, Brazil, when 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas died after jumping from a bridge approximately 40 meters high. The safety equipment was not properly secured. The incident happened at the Skeleton Bridge and was captured on video.
The video shows two men lifting the woman and throwing her off the bridge. Immediately after the jump, bystanders realized the safety rope was not attached and began shouting, "Guys, the rope!"
Police confirmed that the woman did not survive the fall. A nurse at the scene attempted resuscitation but was unsuccessful.
Arrests Made
Police have arrested three men on suspicion of manslaughter (indirect intent), where the person knowingly accepts the risk of death but does not directly intend to kill. The arrested are Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff, Vitor de Freitas Gonçalves, and Maicon Fernandes Cintra.
Upon police arrival, two men who identified themselves as employees of the company "Entre Cordas," which organized the jumps, were present. They handed over their documents but later fled into the woods while a police officer was assisting in rescue efforts.
Police chief André Dantas stated that the arrested men could not explain whether the mistake with the safety rope was due to negligence or intentional action. The investigation continues to determine the exact circumstances.
Background of the Incident
Before the fatal jump, the woman had posted a photo on Instagram from the location with the caption: "Who was the crazy one that allowed me to come jump off the bridge???"
This extreme sport, rope jumping (different from bungee jumping), is practiced on this bridge. Participants usually wear a thick safety rope around their waist. Rope jumping uses a less elastic rope, causing the jumper to swing forward and backward rather than bounce.
An eyewitness, pedagogical coordinator Rafael Goulart, said that after the woman fell, one of the workers removed her GoPro camera. "Was he worried about the equipment to hide evidence, or about its financial value?" Goulart questioned.
The police are continuing the investigation to identify all responsible parties.
