Top Trump Officials Launch Diatribe Against Leftism at International Conference
Senior US officials hosted a 66-nation conference on political violence that exclusively targeted leftist groups, labeling them 'enemies of civilization' and vowing to dismantle their networks.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with top Trump adviser Stephen Miller and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, convened a ministerial meeting on the resurgence of political violence, attended by 66 nations. The event, however, focused solely on leftist violence, ignoring right-wing attacks such as the January 6 Capitol riot.
Rubio used unusually harsh language, calling leftists 'an encroaching darkness' and 'enemies of civilization.' He accused them of being motivated by 'poisonous resentment' and seeking to 'tear down and wreck.' Rubio claimed the US had largely defeated terrorism since 9/11 and now must confront this 'next problem' of leftist violence.
Stephen Miller echoed similar themes, describing leftists as driven by 'envy, hatred, and jealousy.' He dismissed civil liberties concerns as a 'pretextual and disingenuous appeal' to shield leftist violence, insisting such appeals 'must fall on deaf ears.' Miller also referenced a presidential memorandum from last year as a blueprint for action against leftists.
Scott Bessent was the only speaker to acknowledge free speech rights, stating that the fight against domestic terrorism must respect constitutional freedoms. Rubio attempted to link leftist groups with Iran, saying 'Iranian proxy networks are increasingly tied to leftist militant groups.'
A State Department spokesperson confirmed the 66 participating countries included Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, and Spain.
