Temporary halt on strikes
In connection with the envoys' visits, both the Russian and Ukrainian leaderships have stated they intend to refrain, over the next three days, from striking each other's capitals — Moscow and Kyiv, respectively. The move appears to be a gesture accompanying the diplomatic activity, though it is not clear whether it extends to a broader halt in military operations elsewhere along the front line.
The visits by Witkoff and Kushner to both Moscow and Kyiv point to continued US efforts to mediate between the two warring sides. So far, however, there has been no indication of a concrete breakthrough or an agreement to end the war.
