FIFA announced on Sunday that it had suspended Folarin Balogun's one-match ban on a one-year probation period. The USMNT forward received a red card in the previous match against Bosnia and Herzegovina for stepping on an opponent's foot. If Balogun commits a similar offense within the year, the suspension will be enforced.
US President Donald Trump took to his social media platform "Truth Social" to thank FIFA for what he called the right decision and for preventing a great injustice. Balogun has played three games in the World Cup so far, scoring three goals—the best record on the US team. Thanks to FIFA's decision, he will be available for Monday's Round of 16 match against Belgium.
