Trump says he hopes for Ukraine-Russia deal before winter

US President Donald Trump has told journalists he hopes Ukraine and Russia will reach a deal before the onset of winter, according to comments reported by Ukrainska Pravda via Clash Report.

Trump made the remark after being asked about his conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding Patriot missiles. Rather than addressing the missile question directly, he turned to the topic of a potential agreement with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Both sides "going along," Trump says

"I spoke to him [Zelenskyy] a lot, and he's going along, and Putin's going along. Someday, hopefully in the not-too-distant future, maybe before the heavy winter, they'll make a deal," Trump said.

He further described what he wants from the Ukrainian side. "You know what I want him to do? Make a deal. I want him to settle with Putin, and I want Putin to settle with him," Trump added.

Trump did not provide further details on the substance of the talks or on any specific terms of a possible agreement.
