US President Donald Trump has threatened to attack an underground Iranian nuclear site near Natanz, which Western intelligence believes may be a secret uranium enrichment complex.
US President Donald Trump has threatened to strike an underground Iranian nuclear facility near Natanz, known in the West as Mount Ceres. Intelligence agencies suspect that Iran may be building an undeclared uranium enrichment plant at this location.
During a meeting at the White House with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Trump stated that an attack on the area would come soon and be very thorough. He noted that he does not usually announce targets in advance but added that Iran would be unable to prevent it.
Trump estimated that Iran would need more than 20 years to recover from the damage already inflicted. "If we left right now, Iran would need 20, 25 years to recover from the damage. We are not done yet, we are not leaving now," he said.
The US and Iran resumed hostilities on July 12, effectively breaking the ceasefire reached in April. Fighting is concentrated around the Strait of Hormuz. The US has resumed strikes on targets inside Iran, while Tehran has retaliated by attacking regional countries that host US military bases.
