US President Donald Trump declared on the social media platform "Truth Social" that henceforth, every Iranian attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz will be met with US strikes on Iranian infrastructure. Trump stated that regardless of whether the attack is carried out with a missile, drone, or any other weapon, the US will bomb and destroy one bridge or power station. He added that targets could also include infrastructure in or near Tehran.
On July 12, the US and Iran resumed hostilities, effectively breaking the ceasefire signed in April. The fighting is primarily centered around the Strait of Hormuz. The US has resumed attacks on targets in Iran, while Tehran has responded with attacks on regional countries hosting US military bases.
