Trump threatens Europe with 100% tariffs a day after EU and US agreement
US President Donald Trump announced he will impose 100% tariffs on imports from European countries that tax US digital services. The threat came a day after EU member states formally approved a trade agreement with the United States.

US President Donald Trump on Friday threatened to impose 100% tariffs on imports from European countries that tax digital services provided by US companies. The announcement was made on his social media platform "Truth Social."
"Any country that imposes such a tax will immediately receive a 100% tariff on any goods shipped to the United States," Trump wrote. He added that this would effectively cancel any trade agreements that have been signed or ratified.
The threat comes just one day after European Union member states gave final approval to a trade agreement with the US. Trump's statement signals heightened tensions over digital services taxes, which several European nations have already implemented or are planning to introduce, potentially escalating into a full-blown trade dispute.
