Trump: Russia has lost control of its diesel fuel industry
US President Donald Trump said Russia has lost control of its diesel fuel industry due to the war with Ukraine, with many refineries blown up. He also renewed his call to end the war, citing monthly casualty figures.
US President Donald Trump said on Monday on the social platform Truth Social that Russia has lost control of its diesel fuel industry because of the war with Ukraine. According to him, a large number of Russian diesel refineries have been blown up and have at least temporarily halted operations.
Ukrainian forces regularly carry out drone and missile strikes on Russian oil refining facilities, aiming to curb Moscow's revenues, which it uses to fund the war. The global fuel market has also been significantly affected by the US-Israeli war against Iran, which began in late February and has disrupted oil and oil product supplies from the Middle East, including transport through the Strait of Hormuz.
Renewed call to end the war
In his post, Trump again called for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, describing it as absurd and endless. He noted that about 25,000 people are killed in the fighting every month, most of them soldiers, and that the whole world suffers as a result.
As a reminder, before returning to the White House, Trump had promised to stop Russia's invasion of Ukraine within 24 hours. In September, he urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries, though Ukrainian forces have continued such attacks.
Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing since February 24, 2022, while Russia's war against Ukraine has continued since 2014, when Russia occupied Ukraine's Crimean peninsula and began fighting in Donbas.
