Trump declares Strait of Hormuz fully open
US President Donald Trump announced that the Strait of Hormuz is completely open for shipping despite Iran's earlier closure, with oil prices dropping below $80 per barrel.

US President Donald Trump stated on June 22 at the White House that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open for navigation. He noted that more oil is now passing through the strait than ever before. Trump added that the US is in negotiations with Iran and reiterated that Iran will never acquire nuclear weapons.
A peace agreement between the US and Iran was signed on June 18, leading to the opening of the strait. However, on June 20, Iran's military command announced the closure of the strait, citing Israeli strikes on Lebanon. US Vice President JD Vance confirmed on June 22 that the strait had been reopened.
Before the US-Iran war, the Strait of Hormuz handled one-fifth of the world's oil supply. During the war, Brent crude prices rose to $120 per barrel. After the strait reopened, prices fell below $80 per barrel.
