Trump praises Melania over localised ceasefire in Oleshky

US President Donald Trump has publicly praised First Lady Melania Trump in connection with a localised ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine reached in Oleshky. The truce applies to that location rather than to all fighting in Ukraine, where Russia launched a full-scale invasion.

Trump described the First Lady as "better than professionals". That is his own assessment of her role in the matter.

The source material is very brief. It does not set out the terms of the ceasefire, how long it is meant to last, or what Melania Trump actually did. Those details are therefore not included here.
