US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the triumphal arch planned for construction in Washington will be modified so it can serve as a military facility.

According to Trump, the decision was made "at the insistent request of the United States armed forces" and for national security reasons. He said he agreed to turn the "magnificent Triumphal Arch" into a "top-class military complex."

Trump explained that the site is intended to house and store a large number of drones, along with the capability to deploy them quickly. The plan also includes stationing snipers both on the roof of the arch and on the adjacent plaza, as well as storing large stockpiles of sniper ammunition.

Background of the project

Back in April, the Trump administration presented the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) with a design for a 76-meter triumphal arch intended for the memorial interchange near the Arlington Memorial Bridge in Washington.

In early September, Trump also announced that construction of his controversial ballroom project, planned on the site of the White House's East Wing, is expected to be completed by summer 2028.
