Forecasters say Wednesday will bring slightly windier conditions across Latvia, with afternoon air temperatures climbing to between +18°C and +22°C.

Skies will be partly cloudy nationwide, but the Kurzeme region will see overcast conditions, with rain arriving from the west in the evening hours. Kurzeme is expected to be the first area affected as the weather shifts.

Wind and pressure

A moderate southerly wind will blow across the country, with gusts of 8-13 meters per second. Along Kurzeme's western coast, where sea influence is stronger, gusts could reach up to 16 meters per second.

Riga will stay dry on Wednesday, with sunshine breaking through the clouds at times, a moderate southerly wind, and temperatures reaching up to +21°C in the capital.

Cold front on the way

Meteorologists point to a cyclone currently positioned over Scandinavia as the driver of the changing weather. It is pulling a cold atmospheric front toward Latvia from the west, which could bring further changes to conditions in the coming days. Sea-level air pressure on Wednesday will range between 1011 and 1016 hectopascals.
