Karlis Pauls Lasmanis, playing for the fifth-seeded "Shanghai" team, recorded two wins in Group D. They defeated fourth-seeded Amsterdam "Rabobank" 21:15 and 12th-seeded Lithuanian "Gargždai" 21:19. Lasmanis scored five points with four assists in the first game and seven points with three assists in the second. Shanghai will face second-seeded Serbian side "Liman" in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Nauris Miezis' team "Ulaanbaatar", seeded sixth, triumphed in Group C. They beat third-seeded German "Skyliners" 15:13 and 11th-seeded German "Der Stamm" 21:10. The Japanese team did not qualify for the quarterfinals. "DeQing" will face German "Skyliners" in Sunday's quarterfinal.
