The UEFA U19 European Championship in Wales has revealed three of its four semifinalists. In Group A, Spain and Germany have already clinched the top two positions and also booked their tickets to the U20 World Cup.

Spain opened the tournament with a commanding 7-0 victory over hosts Wales, followed by a 3-0 win against Denmark. Jose Morante, a product of Real Betis, netted his third goal of the competition. Germany, after a hard-fought 4-3 win over Denmark, thrashed Wales 4-0. Forward Otto Stange of Hamburger SV has scored three times in the tournament, while Francis Onyeka, on loan from Bayer Leverkusen to Bundesliga newcomer Elversberg, found the net in both matches.

In Group B, Ukraine has been perfect, beating Croatia 3-1 and Serbia 2-1. On both occasions, Ukraine fell behind but fought back. Against Croatia, Dmitro Bohdanov, who debuted for Union Berlin in the Bundesliga this season, equalized. Against Serbia, Vitaliy Hlyut, teammate of Robert Lewandowski at Chicago Fire, turned the game around from 0-1 to 2-1 in just five minutes.

The final group matches will see Wales face Denmark and Spain take on Germany on July 4 in Group A, while on July 5, Serbia meets Croatia and Ukraine faces Italy in Group B. One of the third-place finishers will earn a spot in the U20 World Cup via a separate qualification match in Wales.
