US President Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that considerable progress has been achieved toward setting up a new US Army base in Poland. He credited the development to what he described as the decisive leadership of his friend, Polish President Karol Nawrocki.

According to Trump, if the base does get established, its exact location will be announced very soon. He described the potential move as a historic milestone for the alliance between the United States and Poland.

Background

The idea of a permanent US military presence in Poland has been under discussion for months. On June 3, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz revealed that he had submitted a formal proposal to the head of the Pentagon for the creation of a new, permanent American troop base in the country.

Later, in July, media reports indicated that an additional deployment of 5,000 US troops to Poland was expected to take place within three months. In his latest statement, Trump did not provide specifics on the base's planned location or timeline, but expressed confidence that the project was moving forward.
