Trump praises Allah, threatens to obliterate Iran

US President Donald Trump escalated rhetoric against Iran on Wednesday, claiming Tehran was plotting to assassinate him and threatening to “obliterate” the country, ending his social media post with “PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!”. The threats come as a ceasefire signed in June between Iran and the US has collapsed.

The US launched new strikes on Iran earlier this week in response to Iranian attacks on shipping in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. “They want to take out the U.S. leader — me,” Trump told reporters. “I’m on every list. I saw this morning, I’m on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn’t last very long.”

Despite the recent hostilities, talks between Washington and Tehran are reportedly ongoing.
