Chinese leader Xi Jinping has arrived in the United States for a state visit, with President Donald Trump personally greeting him at Joint Base Andrews. The trip coincides with the UN General Assembly session in New York, though Xi is not attending that gathering.
The visit includes a formal welcome on the White House South Lawn, private tea with the president and first lady, and a tour of the National Archives. The White House has also invited leading tech executives to a state dinner held in Xi's honor.

Trade truce extended
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the US and China agreed on Wednesday to extend the so-called Busan agreement, a temporary trade truce between the world's two largest economies.
Putin invited to G20
The US has also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit scheduled for December in Miami. Should he attend, it would mark his first appearance at such a gathering since launching the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he hoped Putin would accept the invitation.
