Agnese Puisāne has been blind since birth. Even so, theatre became an important part of her life in childhood. Her path to the stage is described by the culture section of LSM, Latvia's public media portal.
Theatre in childhood
Agnese first got to know the world of theatre by listening to recordings of Latvian Radio Theatre productions and to audiobooks. Later she took part in amateur theatre and in performances, gaining her own experience on stage.
A negative answer and doubts at home
As a teenager, Agnese tried to find out whether it was possible to obtain professional actor training in Latvia. The answer she received was negative. A question was also once raised within her family: "You can't see, so what kind of actress could you be?"
Agnese did not heed these doubts and continued along her path to the stage.
