Tusk: Escalation of Ukraine-Poland Conflict Is a Strategic Mistake
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the involvement of Polish and Ukrainian politicians in a conflict a strategic mistake that will harm both sides in business, geopolitics, and reputation.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the involvement of Polish and Ukrainian politicians in a mutual conflict is a strategic mistake that will hurt both sides. He made the remarks on social media platform X, noting that the consequences will be felt in business, geopolitics, and reputation.
Tusk said he is trying to reduce tension and minimize losses in talks with European partners. He emphasized that in politics, a mistake is worse than a crime, and the situation requires a careful solution.
The statement comes after a series of tense events between Kyiv and Warsaw. On June 19, Polish President Karol Nawrocki revoked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Order of the White Eagle, citing the naming of a Ukrainian unit after the UPA and accusations of a "cult of totalitarianism and violence."
In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar, and Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov announced they would return their Polish awards. Zelenskyy sent the order back to Nawrocki by mail on June 20.
Additionally, former Ukrainian presidents Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko, and Petro Poroshenko renounced their own Orders of the White Eagle, joining the protest.
Tusk called for de-escalation, stressing that cooperation between the two countries is vital.
