New Leisure and Growth Center to Be Established in Tukums
Tukums Municipality has decided to establish a professional further education center called the “Leisure and Growth Center” (BLICe), combining interest education, lifelong learning, and youth work. The center is set to open this September.
The municipality of Tukums is investing in a new education and development center that will offer opportunities for children, youth, and adults to enhance their skills and knowledge. At its council meeting on June 25, 2026, the decision was made to establish the professional further education center “Leisure and Growth Center,” or BLICe.
The center will be a multifunctional facility where interest education, lifelong learning, youth work, and professional development opportunities will be provided under one roof. Its goal is to create an accessible, high-quality, and needs-oriented environment for people of all ages.
BLICe is planned to serve as the development and coordination center for interest education in Tukums Municipality, promoting program quality and cooperation among educational institutions. Special attention will be paid to youth, focusing on personal development, participation, and entrepreneurial skills. A unified youth work quality system will be established, including in-person, mobile, and remote activities.
For adults, the center will offer lifelong learning opportunities such as professional development courses, seminars, and non-formal education activities to help them adapt to the changing labor market. Training will also be organized for employees of state and local government institutions, companies, and organizations.
One of the advantages of the new center is more efficient use of resources and reduced duplication of functions. This will allow for a broader range of programs and equal opportunities for different population groups. The center will be located at Talsu iela 20, Tukums, and is expected to commence operations this September.
