Motorcyclist Dies in Crash in Tukums Region; New Details Emerge
A motorcyclist was killed in a serious collision with a car near Ozolnieki in Tukums municipality on Thursday evening. Police say the car driver apparently failed to give way, and a criminal investigation has been launched.

A tragic road accident occurred on Thursday evening in Tukums municipality, near Ozolnieki, claiming the life of a motorcyclist. According to preliminary information, the driver of a passenger car failed to yield to the motorcyclist while entering the main road, resulting in a severe collision.
The impact was so powerful that the Volvo SUV was thrown onto the road's median strip, while the motorcycle remained heavily deformed on the roadway. Emergency services worked at the scene – some cleared the aftermath and cleaned the road, while others managed traffic.
The motorcyclist, a man born in 1971, died from his injuries at the scene. The car driver, a woman born in 1985, was taken to a hospital in Riga with injuries.
The State Police, citing witness accounts, stated that the woman had not ensured road safety and had failed to observe the "Give Way" sign. The collision occurred with the motorcyclist, who was traveling from Tukums along the main road. The car's side showed an imprint of the motorcycle, and the vehicle overturned onto its side after the impact.
The police have initiated a criminal investigation and continue to clarify all circumstances of the tragic accident.
