Exhibition dedicated to 150th anniversary of Latvian sculptor Teodors Zaļkalns opens in Turaida
An exhibition featuring animal sculptures by Teodors Zaļkalns, a founder of Latvian sculpture, has opened at the Turaida Museum Reserve to mark his 150th birth anniversary.

The pig figure created by Teodors Zaļkalns has become one of the most recognizable works in Latvia, but the master also studied and depicted lambs, cats, and rabbits with equal dedication. To commemorate the sculptor's 150th birthday, the Turaida Museum Reserve has opened an exhibition titled 'Tail-Wagging Companions: The Animalier Works of Teodors Zaļkalns' in its exhibition hall, formerly the manor manager's new residential house. The display focuses on Zaļkalns' animal sculptures, offering visitors a glimpse into this lesser-known aspect of his creative legacy.
