Tourist flow in Ida-Virumaa up 3.5% in first five months
In the first five months of 2026, 73,554 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in Ida-Viru County, a 3.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to data from the Estonian Statistics Department, the number of tourists in Ida-Viru County rose thanks to both domestic and foreign visitors. Between January and May, 73,554 tourists stayed in local accommodation, up 3.5% from 71,103 in the same period of 2025.
Estonian domestic tourists accounted for 62,834 visitors, an increase of 3.5%, while the number of foreign guests reached 10,720, up 3%. The total number of overnight stays also grew, reaching 125,637, which is 4.4% more than a year earlier. Estonian tourists spent 104,573 nights (+4.3%), and foreign guests spent 21,064 nights (+4.8%).
In May alone, Ida-Virumaa welcomed 16,347 tourists, including 13,116 domestic and 3,231 foreign visitors. Their overnight stays totaled 28,520. Across Estonia, the tourism sector continued its upward trend: in the first five months, 1,268,947 tourists stayed in accommodations nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%, and the number of overnight stays reached 2,324,397, up 6.1%.
