Studies Continue in New 'Latvian as a Foreign Language Teacher' Program with Summer Enrollment
The first semester exams were successfully passed, a promotional campaign was launched, and additional enrollment is open for August. External experts are evaluating the integration of horizontal principles, and program approbation will begin in September 2026.
The first semester of the newly established study program "Latvian as a Foreign Language Teacher" has been successfully completed. Students passed their exams, demonstrating both their motivation and the program's relevance to their needs.
To attract new applicants, a publicity and advertising campaign was carried out, including the production of an animated video that presents the program's goals and content in an engaging way. Information was distributed to national and regional media outlets as well as Latvian municipalities. Prospective students are invited to apply for additional enrollment in August.
Meanwhile, work has begun on evaluating the integration of horizontal principles into the program's content. External experts are analyzing how gender equality, equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, non-discrimination regardless of age, ethnicity, language, or other aspects, and the specifics of adult education in the migration context are incorporated into courses, topics, and discussions. The experts' findings will provide recommendations for content improvement.
In the reporting period, the procedure for developing the program's approbation report was approved. The report will summarize information about the program's process, content, planned learning outcomes, and implementation conditions. Approbation and the collection of results will commence in September of the 2026/2027 academic year.
The study program was created under the project "Latvian Language Teacher Education Program for Working with Adults," funded by the European Social Fund Plus, aiming to improve the quality and labor market relevance of education.
