TV tonight: documentary tracks the hunt for journalist Lyra McKee's killer
Tonight's UK TV listings feature a three-part documentary following detectives investigating the 2019 murder of journalist Lyra McKee in Derry, alongside several other new programmes and a film.
Channel 4 airs the first episode of "The Murder Detective" at 9pm, a three-part documentary filmed over seven years that follows detectives hunting for the killer of journalist Lyra McKee, murdered in Derry in 2019. The series shows investigators struggling to persuade witnesses — more than 150 in total — to come forward, and gradually realising they are actually investigating the leadership of the New IRA. The case is a reminder that, although the Troubles are officially in abeyance, describing them as fully over remains premature.

Sky One's 8pm slot brings "Surviving Earth", a Walking With Dinosaurs-style series set in the Triassic era, which tells the story of a small creature called an ischigualastia struggling with food scarcity amid extinction events.
U&Alibi begins the second series of "Bookish" at 8pm, with Mark Gatiss returning as 1946 London bookseller-detective Gabriel Book, who investigates an apparent killing during a seance.
ITV1 airs a new episode of "Professor T" at 9pm, in which Ben Miller's criminologist investigates a violent murder at an upscale retirement village.
Channel 4 continues "The Never Ending Murder" at 10pm, examining one of Britain's most serious unsolved cases — the 1991 disappearance of 18-year-old Nicola Payne, whose fate remains unknown.
Sky Documentaries airs "Rainbow Warrior" at 10pm, about the 1985 bombing of the Greenpeace ship during protests against French nuclear testing.
Late night, Film4 shows Chris Morris's 2019 satire "The Day Shall Come" at 1.25am, about the US government's war on terror.
