Uber and Zipline target one million daily drone deliveries by 2029
Uber and drone delivery company Zipline have announced a partnership aiming for one million Uber Eats drone deliveries per day by the end of 2029, with the first deliveries starting this year.

Uber and Zipline have unveiled a new partnership that will bring drone delivery to some Uber Eats orders. The companies have set a goal of reaching one million drone deliveries per day by the end of 2029.
The first deliveries under the partnership are set to launch later this year in markets where Zipline already operates, including Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. The service is then expected to expand to dozens of additional cities.
Beyond combining Uber's delivery network with Zipline's drone fleet, Uber has also made a strategic investment in Zipline, though the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Zipline's track record and other partners
Before teaming up with Uber, Zipline had already partnered with Walmart and Chipotle to deliver food and retail products by drone. In total, the company has completed more than 2.7 million deliveries, ranging from healthcare products to food.
This is not Uber's first move into drone delivery — it partnered with Flytrex for Uber Eats deliveries in 2025. Beyond drones, Uber is also pursuing autonomous ride-hailing through partnerships with Lucid and Momenta for robotaxi services.
With this deal, Uber and Zipline will go head-to-head with DoorDash and Wing, which launched their own drone delivery partnership in 2022 and recently expanded their service to the Atlanta metro area.
