Musician Ūdris's wife Ilona Balode-Ūdre returns to acting in new feature film

Ilona Balode-Ūdre, wife of Rolands Ūdris, musician of the band “The Hobos” whose health was severely affected by a past accident, has spent years caring for both her husband and their son Bārts. Now she has the opportunity to return to acting, according to the portal Santa.lv.

Ilona Balode-Ūdre was once one of the few graduates of her acting course to be accepted into the Dailes Theatre troupe. Audiences also came to know her from the TV series “UgunsGrēks,” where she played the love interest of Vadims Felzenbahers. After her husband's tragic car accident, the actress set her profession aside for a time to focus fully on her family.

A new role after a break

After a lengthy pause, Ilona Balode-Ūdre is returning to the screen in a lead role in director Elza Gauja's new feature film “Apprecēties un mirt” (“To Marry and to Die”). Her on-screen partner will be actor Gints Grāvelis. Filming began a few days ago.

The film is being made as a romantic comedy about two strangers who strike an unusual deal – the character Aņa wants to end her life, while the character Zigis wants to marry in order to inherit his grandmother's house. They agree that Zigis will help Aņa achieve her plan if she first agrees to marry him. The filmmakers stress that despite the serious premise, viewers can expect not a heavy drama but a warm, ironic story.

Director Elza Gauja previously made the feature film “Pastkarte no Romas” (“A Postcard from Rome”), starring Jānis Jarāns and Indra Burkovska, which received the National Film Award “Lielais Kristaps” for best feature film of the year.
