According to the UFC, the Brazilian flyweight was found unresponsive on Monday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep. Despite the efforts of the emergency medical team, he was pronounced dead at the scene, the organization said in a statement.
The UFC offered its deepest condolences to Nascimento's family, friends, teammates and loved ones during what it described as an incredibly difficult time. Nascimento had been part of the UFC since 2021. His last fight took place in June, when he lost to Mitch Raposo by split decision.
That defeat left Nascimento with an overall MMA record of 22 wins and seven losses, and a 4-2 record in the UFC. The sudden death of the 34-year-old Brazilian has sent shockwaves through the MMA community, where he was recognized as a dedicated competitor in the flyweight division.
