Man arrested in Uganda over alleged killings of 38 people
Security forces in Uganda, an East African country, have detained Moses Mudjurizi, who is accused of killing 38 people and eating their remains between 2010 and 2025. His guilt has yet to be decided in court.

Security forces in Uganda, in East Africa, have arrested a man named Moses Mudjurizi, who is accused of murdering 38 people and eating their remains over a period of 15 years, according to the British outlet The Sun. The case matters because the army chief describes it as the worst serial killing case in the country's history, and the suspect faces the death penalty.
What the army chief said
General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, commander of the Uganda Defence Forces, called Mudjurizi the worst serial killer and cannibal in the nation's history. According to the general, the suspect killed people with machetes in the Masaka, Ibanda and Kazo districts between 2010 and 2025, and then ate their bodies.
In some cases, the attackers allegedly broke into homes, sometimes drilling holes through walls, and killed entire families.
How the arrest came about
Police say the man was detained after a complaint from a victim's relatives and a search of a house, during which evidence was found. The suspect had reportedly been detained several times before, but either escaped or was released.
What comes next
General Kainerugaba stated that Mudjurizi will be tried in public and, if found guilty, will face the death penalty. The case is under investigation, and a court will still determine his guilt.
