"I had imagined us growing old together, but now I can't hear her voice anymore," said Athipat, 32, the leader of the band Thotsakan, speaking to BBC Thai at the funeral of his girlfriend Nahathai. Athipat, who suffered head and arm injuries, also mourns the loss of his bandmates: drummer Nathaphat (joined a month ago), keyboardist Pruttipong (about to leave the band), and vocalist Thitiwat (who had planned to celebrate Athipat's birthday on Sunday). "Instead of celebrating my birthday, we ended up arranging a funeral," Athipat said.

The deadly inferno has reignited concerns over fire safety at entertainment venues across Thailand. Survivors reported locked doors and a lack of emergency exit signs. Authorities are investigating whether negligence caused the fire, and some question if government agencies failed to enforce regulations. Athipat echoed these concerns: "I wish venues had higher safety standards so we can perform without worry."

Guitarist Chanate, who has a toddler, is reconsidering his career due to safety risks. He recalls the last thing he saw before chaos: "The smiles of the bar-goers enjoying our music." Despite the tragedy, Thotsakan plans to regroup and continue, urging fans to wait for their next chapter.
